Why Team One Step

TOS_6TOS_7TOS_4TOS_8

Team One Step supports the One Step Programs for kids with cancer.

We are currently forming our team for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 8, 2017. Have you ever wanted to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon? Have you run it before and want to do it for an excellent cause? Team One Step provides supportive training for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, we know what it takes to get you across the finish line! When you join Team One Step, you give kids with cancer the opportunity to feel accepted among their peers, draw hope from kids in similar situations, and experience the simple joys of childhood.

When you decide to run for Team One Step you become part of our community, a diverse group of individuals who are all running towards the same goal. Our runners draw strength from teammates, motivation from coaches and inspiration from our campers. Team One Step will support you through training, fundraising and completing the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Never run a race? Experienced runner? Our coaches work with runners of all abilities, ages and fitness levels and provide training programs for runners of all levels. Our coaches will encourage you through all aspects of your training.

Each runner commits to raising at least $1000 (or $1500 after the close of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon drawing), the cost of sending a child with cancer to camp for one week. Team One Step will provide resources to make fundraising the easiest part of your marathon experience. We will provide you with a personal fundraising page, social media and email templates and incentives to keep you motivated.

All members of Team One Step are invited to our One Step Summer Camp to meet the campers you are supporting. You will see first-hand the positive impact you are making when you witness kids with cancer laughing with delight at camp. In July, our team meets at Summer Camp in Lake Geneva, WI for a team workout followed by lunch and games with our campers. This event is family friendly and we can’t wait to see you there!

We also have outstanding race day support. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon has thousands of runners and over 1.7 million spectators to cheer you on during your 26.2 mile run. On the morning of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, we provide our team with private gear check, bathrooms without lines and a light breakfast of bagels, bananas, coffee and water. We will then walk to the start line of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with your coaches and teammates. When you pass mile 13, Team One Step has a cheer station to give you high-fives and keep you going! After you cross the finish line of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Team One Step provides pedicab rides back to our Celebration Party! At the Celebration Party, there is a full buffet, music, a photographer and a whole lot of cheering.
