Team One Step supports the One Step Programs for kids with cancer.
We are currently forming our team for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 8, 2017 and the Chicago Half Marathon on September 24, 2017. Have you ever wanted to run the Chicago Half Marathon or the Bank of America Chicago Marathon? Have you run it before and want to do it for an excellent cause? Team One Step provides supportive training for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the Chicago Half Marathon, we know what it takes to get you across the finish line! When you join Team One Step, you give kids with cancer the opportunity to feel accepted among their peers, draw hope from kids in similar situations, and experience the simple joys of childhood.
When you decide to run for Team One Step you become part of our community, a diverse group of individuals who are all running towards the same goal. Our runners draw strength from teammates, motivation from coaches and inspiration from our campers. Team One Step will support you through training, fundraising and completing the Bank of America Chicago Marathon or the Chicago Half Marathon.
Never run a race? Experienced runner? Our coaches work with runners of all abilities, ages and fitness levels and provide training programs for runners of all levels. Our coaches will encourage you through all aspects of your training.
Each runner commits to raising at least $1500 for the Bank of American Chicago Marathon or $750 for the Chicao Half Marathon. These funds pay for a child with cancer to attend camp for one week. Team One Step will provide resources to make fundraising the easiest part of your marathon experience. We will provide you with a personal fundraising page, social media and email templates and incentives to keep you motivated.
All members of Team One Step are invited to our One Step Summer Camp to meet the campers you are supporting. You will see first-hand the positive impact you are making when you witness kids with cancer laughing with delight at camp. In July, our team meets at Summer Camp in Lake Geneva, WI for a team workout followed by lunch and games with our campers. This event is family friendly and we can’t wait to see you there!

Chicago Half Marathon
Join Team One Step for the Chicago Half Marathon!
Team One Step will provide participants a paid, guaranteed entry into the Chicago Half Marathon, expert coaching, training plans, team runs, and plenty of inspiration. Participants commit to raise a minimum of $750 to help send a child with cancer to camp where they can just be kids and enjoy arts and crafts, swimming and games with peers who understand them. We offer fundraising support such as a personal webpage to accept donations, templates to use on social media, and additional fundraising ideas that others have found successful. From training to fundraising, we will be with you every step of the way.
The Chicago Half Marathon is a flat half marathon on Sunday, September 24th. Start in Jackson Park and participants will make their way through historic Hyde Park, by the Museum of Science and Industry and then onto Lake Shore Drive! This is one of few races where Lake Shore Drive is closed to traffic and walkers, joggers, and runners have the street to themselves. Participants will enjoy gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline along the course and aid stations every mile.
The Chicago Half Marathon is walker friendly! Participants are encouraged to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace. This pace goes into effect when the last participant crosses the start line which takes approximately 20 minutes. Although the 16 minute mile pace is encouraged, the Chicago Half Marathon provides accommodations for those who don’t keep that pace. Team One Step is proud to partner as an official charity with the Chicago Half Marathon to provide an excellent experience for our team.
