Springfield, IL Advocacy Program

Grades: 6-8

Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders experience the power of advocacy as they educate their state legislatures to spur positive change over a week-long trip to the Illinois capital.

The One Step Springfield Advocacy Trip is an opportunity for campers to discuss some of the challenges they and their families face as cancer survivors, and to empower them to ask their Illinois elected officials to advocate for laws and policies directly affecting their lives. Also, an afternoon was spent at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library.

Our Advocates came home empowered after an inside look at the Illinois state government in action.
