Children's Oncology Services, Inc. (COSI) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer. The One Step At A Time programs operated by COSI give children facing cancer a chance to bond with other pediatric cancer patients and survivors in a non-hospital setting. Together, they learn to challenge themselves in new ways and give each other hope, strength and understanding through shared experiences.
Founded on the principle of volunteerism, all programs are run by counselors, medical staff and administrators who generously donate their time and services. Many of our 300 volunteers return year after year and include cancer survivors, medical professionals, former campers and their family members. In fact, 40% of our volunteers are cancer survivors!
Our programs are open to children ages 7 to 19. The status of a child’s therapy or stage of illness does not impact eligibility. Medical coverage is provided for each program, and health professionals are on-site to administer general medical care, chemotherapy and any other medical assistance that may be required.
Tuition for all One Step At A Time programs is based on a family’s own assessment of their ability to pay and no one is ever turned away. Tuition is set at a fraction of the actual cost of camp and is often partially or completely waived.
